2026 Veteran of the Year Award Ceremony Honoring Brigadier General (retired) Barry Hartman
Join the Friends of the New York State Military Museum and the Uncle Sam Chapter of the Association of the United States Army as they honor retired Brigadier General Barry Hartman with the 2026 Veteran of the Year Award.
General Hartman served two combat tours in Vietnam and spent 49 years in uniform, including service in the U.S. Army and New York Guard. Mark O’Rourke, president of the Friends, and Rick Wark, president of the Uncle Sam Chapter, will present the award.
The ceremony begins at 1:00 p.m. at the New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center in Saratoga Springs. Everyone is welcome.
The New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center regularly hosts a variety of meaningful programs that honor our military heritage and educate the community as well as serve as a venue for community partners. Our events include Veterans Day commemorations, exhibit openings featuring historical artifacts and displays, anniversary observances of significant military milestones, and educational talks by historians and veterans. We also organize special ceremonies, historical reenactments, and community gatherings that bring together veterans, families, and history enthusiasts to preserve and share the stories of New York's military legacy.
