About the Award
The Preserving Our Military Heritage Award was established by the Friends of the New York State Military Museum to recognize meaningful contributions to the preservation and interpretation of our nation’s military history.
The award honors distinguished authors, principled leaders, decorated veterans, museum professionals, scholars and other individuals or organizations whose work helps ensure that the stories, service and sacrifices of earlier generations are remembered.
A Tradition of Recognition
The award is presented principally during May, which is recognized as National Military Appreciation Month, and October, which is recognized as New York State History Month.
Preserving military history means preserving the courage, commitment, sacrifice and service of the generations who defended the nation and helped shape the course of history.
